This Used to be a Farm

    The centralization of profit is always the highest priority in the USA now, so small family farms are considered obsolete. The real money is in corporate farming: giant, industrialized operations, automation, low-paid workers, and much profit flowing to the top.

    That is how things are, now. One way or another, Americans wanted this for themselves. As the saying goes, you break it, you bought it.

Part one covered travel in general; it's way more complicated than it used to be... Here in part 2, Bob covers some Tillamook county particulars, like how to plan ahead for your trip and avoid disaster. Like we said, things aren't like they used to be: These days, coastal towns that might collectively handle 30,000 visitors are getting more like one hundred thousand visitors or more. Everything is packed, main highways become parking lots, campgrounds are reserved for month in advance.

Visiting The Oregon Coast - What you need to know, Part 1

 This is the start of a video series collaboration between Oregon Coast Now and The Obvious Guide. You will learn here a few insider tips and tricks about getting around on the coast, especially since it has become so overrun with people, as well as how to get along with the locals and maybe get better service that way.


The important thing to understand is that there are no undiscovered hidden gems, despite the tourist industry propaganda. Particularly from May through September, there is no place you can go on the Oregon coast that isn't packed with people. Every square foot of every tourist area is crowded like a county fair on free corndog day. You can learn to deal with it, though, if you know what to do and how to plan ahead.
